Katherine Rippith - Kilrenny, Fife

Hello Everyone, new member here, this a great site!
My connection to this clan is my GGGGmother - Katherine Rippith, or Catherine Redpath.

I know very little about Catherine and have only recently discovered her name. My GGGmother was Maria Mackie - she born about 1815 and married to John Philp in Kilconquhar, Fife on 21 July 1834. Maria and John had at least 8 children and on her death certificate in Feb 1859 her parents are listed as Walter Mackie and Catherine Redpath (both deceased). I have found an IGI reference to Walter and Catherine's marriage in Kilrenny on 13 Jan 1804 - but no birth/christening for Maria, or any children from this marriage. Walter came from one of the local Mackie families (born in Kilrenny in 1776, parents James and Helen Halkerston), but I have not been able to find any reference to Catherine.

One theory I have is that she was the daughter of Robert Redpath and Janet Mason - they were living in Kilrenny at the time and there appears to be a gap in their family between 1777 and 1785 that Catherine could have filled.

This site has given me a lot more info about Robert and Janet's family but I am still not certain about this connection. I would love to hear from anyone who might be able to help me - or who might be a long-lost relative!

Catherine Rippeth

Hello Helen,

I just got into my family's history this week and have come across much information. My family traces through the Rippeths to the American Revelution. I show a Catherine Rippeth born January 1788, Married 1805, Died September 1843. She was the daughter of William Rippeth from the Lancaster Militia and Sarah Ross. When I checked the Daughters of the American Revelution records, there is a John Ridpath from North Carolina and a William Rippeth. The names and dates seem to fit what you are looking for. My records only track my direct ties which are through Catherines brother James and not her. William (father) was born in Prussia according to my records in 1754.

If this looks like it fits, let me know and I can try to fill in a few more details and perhaps you can fill in the details of other parts of the family tree that I do not have.

Best Regards,
Jim Phillips - Ohio

Nick Redpath

Hi

I read the message in the archives posted by Nick Redpath on  11-19-03. It said his father Jack Redpath was born in Jamaica.  Did Jack have a brother called Reginald (Reggie)?  I am trying to find Reggie for a friend who used to live in Jamaica.

My email address is sally.byrne@ntlworld.com.

Many thanks

Yvonne Redpath of Leeds, England

I am not a Redpath, first off. But I studied in Reutlingen (then West) Germany during the spring semester of 1989 with an Yvonne Redpath who then lived in Leeds with her parents. She attended the Fachhochschule and I was with a group of 18 other students from Valparaiso University in Indiana in the US. We were studying abroad one semester and Yvonne lived in my dormitory, Litt Halle I believe it was. She was kind enough to invite me and my travel mate to her home in Leeds for Easter that year during our spring break. I've since lost track of her over the years and would love to get back in touch with her. This family website was the only thing that came up when I did an internet search.
She would be 37 now, as her birthday is 19 Oct. 1968, according to my birthday book. :) I've no idea if she remained in Leeds, or even in England.

Anyone who can reconnect me to Yvonne, please write to me at:

I wish to return to England this summer and visit friends in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and it would be lovely to see her as well after these 16 years!

Thank you
